PU-Springs by BASF

The BASF SE is one of the largest companies in the world and was founded in Mannheim in 1865. The company has over 390 branches and over 112000 employees worldwide. We are glad to name BASF a sponsor for a long time but for the first time we are also supported by BASF Polyurethanes from Lemförde. They produce basic chemicals as well as a large diversity of different polyurethanes (PU). Their products are used in many industrial sectors. For that BASF assists its customers with its know-how in the development and technical configuration.

In detail we have got PU-springs for our shock absorbers made of Cellasto. Cellasto is a cellular PU which is up to 80% compressible and shows low lateral strain. This allows the use in places with low design space. Additionally Cellasto swells few and is resistant in contact with many chemicals. Because of these benefits not only Elbflorace but also 9 of 10 automotive producers count on Cellasto in their suspensions.

Due to the Cellasto-springs we get a progressively growing spring rate which leads to more spring travel reserves at high loads. But it also means that we can use smoother steel springs and thereby guarantee a more sensible actuation when passing small bumps while the curve dynamics keep a high level.

We are excited of the first tests and hope that the collaboration with BASF Polyurethanes will remain for a long time.
